Ignacio Uriarte - The Art Of Not Working

The Art of Not Working is a short film of about nine minutes on the artist Ignacio Uriarte. Itai Keshet made it as the second episode of Sluggish, a web series he produced on his own between 2015 and 2017, and published it on Vimeo in October 2015. The film tells how Uriarte, stuck in an office job, began to experiment with doing office work without the work itself, and it looks at art, office life and the freedom of zoning out. Uriarte was born in Krefeld, Germany, in 1972 and lives and works in Valencia, Spain. His works on paper, installations and sound pieces draw on his background in business administration and on the materials and tools of the office, such as typewriters. His first solo exhibition with Bartha Contemporary, Drawn To See, was held at the Notting Hill gallery from 15 September to 8 October 2023.
