Accessibility Statement
Last reviewed: 3 October 2026
1. Our commitment
We want everyone to be able to see the work we show, read about our artists and buy from us, whatever the way they use the web. This statement covers www.barthacontemporary.com, run by Bartha Contemporary Ltd, 7 Ledbury Mews North, London W11 2AF.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. The site is not yet fully there: section 3 lists what still falls short, and section 4 sets out how we will help in the meantime. If something on the site gets in your way, please tell us and we will make a reasonable adjustment for you.
2. What we fixed in October 2026
We reviewed the site against WCAG 2.2 AA and made these changes:
- Every form field now shows a clear focus ring when you reach it by keyboard, including on the coloured page footers.
- Field borders, icons, image indicators and small grey text were darkened so they can be read against their backgrounds.
- The moving header slideshows and background films have a Pause button, stop when you interact with them, and stay still if your device asks for reduced motion.
- Artwork images open full screen from the keyboard, with Zoom in and Zoom out buttons, and the full-screen view behaves as a proper dialog.
- The newsletter, enquiry, viewing and purchase forms have proper labels, say clearly when something goes wrong, and announce their results to screen readers.
- If our security check cannot load, the forms now say so and offer another way to reach us.
- Navigation marks the current page, and exhibition and work titles are marked as headings.
- Artwork images use a written description of what they show, where we have one, instead of only the title.
- Pages reflow at narrow widths and when zoomed, and focused items are no longer hidden behind the sticky header.
3. Known limitations
- Artwork images. We are adding short visual descriptions to our artwork images. Some images still describe the work by its title only. If you would like a description of a work, ask us and we will write one for you.
- Third-party pages and services. Card payment takes place on Stripe’s checkout page, and the map on our About page is provided by Google Maps. We do not control how accessible these are. Our address is always given as text, and you can pay by bank transfer instead of by card.
- Films. Some exhibition films may not have captions or a transcript. Ask us and we will describe the film or send what we have.
- Older documents. Some older catalogues, press releases and other PDFs may not be fully accessible. We can send the text in another format on request.
4. Getting help or an alternative
If any part of the site is difficult to use, we are glad to help directly:
- Email info@barthacontemporary.com or telephone +44 20 7985 0015.
- Assisted purchase. You can buy any work by email or by telephone instead of through the website. We will take you through the details, the price and the delivery, and send you an invoice to pay by bank transfer or a secure card payment link.
- Information in another format. We can send exhibition texts, price lists and work details by email as plain text, or talk them through with you on the telephone.
- Visiting in person. You are welcome to see any work at the gallery. Please contact us before your visit so we can help with access.
- Signing in. If the security check on our sign-in or contact forms will not load, email us and we will help you sign in or buy.
5. Reporting a problem
If you find something on the site that you cannot use, or that does not meet the standard above, please email info@barthacontemporary.com with the page address and a short description of the problem, and tell us how you would prefer us to reply. We will reply within 5 working days.
6. About this statement
