Returns & Refunds Policy

Last updated: July 2026

1. Overview

We want you to live with a work you love. If a purchase made through our website or at a distance (by email or telephone) is not right, you may return it under the terms below. This policy applies to purchases by consumers from Bartha Contemporary Ltd, 7 Ledbury Mews North, Notting Hill, London W11 2AF, United Kingdom. It does not limit your statutory rights, including your rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

2. Return window — 14 days

You may cancel your purchase for any reason within 14 days of the day you (or someone you nominate) receive the artwork. To cancel, simply email info@barthacontemporary.com within that period stating your name, the work, and that you wish to return it — no reason is required. You then have a further 14 days to send the work back to us.

3. Condition of returned works

The artwork must be returned in the condition in which it was received: unaltered, undamaged, and — where applicable — together with its certificate of authenticity and any accompanying documentation. Please retain the original packaging; artworks must be returned professionally packed, and we are happy to advise on (or arrange) appropriate fine-art packing and carriage. We may reduce the refund to reflect any diminution in the work’s value caused by handling beyond what is necessary to examine it.

4. How to return an artwork

Please contact us before sending anything — given the nature of the works we sell, returns must be shipped insured, by a fine-art courier or an agreed carrier, to: Bartha Contemporary, 7 Ledbury Mews North, Notting Hill, London W11 2AF, United Kingdom. We will coordinate the practical arrangements with you. Unless the work is faulty, damaged or not as described, the direct cost of returning it (including insurance) is borne by you.

5. Refunds

We will refund the full purchase price, including standard (least-cost) outbound delivery where it was charged, within 14 days of receiving the work back — or, if earlier, within 14 days of you providing evidence of having sent it. Refunds are made to the original payment method. Import duties, taxes and any express-delivery premium are not refundable except where the work was faulty, damaged or misdescribed.

6. Damaged or misdescribed works

Every work is professionally packed and fully insured in transit. If a work arrives damaged, or is not as described, please tell us within 48 hours of delivery with photographs of the work and the packaging. We will arrange collection at our cost and offer, at your choice, a repair (where appropriate for the work), a replacement where one exists, or a full refund including all delivery and return costs.

7. Exceptions

The 14-day change-of-mind window does not apply to:

  • works commissioned or made to your specification, or personalised works;
  • purchases made in person at the gallery or at an art fair (your statutory rights in respect of faulty or misdescribed goods are unaffected).

8. International purchases

The same 14-day window applies to international orders. Return shipping must be insured and, where relevant, accompanied by the customs documentation we provide so the work can re-enter the UK as a returned good. Customs duties and import taxes paid in your country are generally refundable only via your local customs authority; we will supply any paperwork needed to support such a claim.

9. Contact

Questions about a return? Email info@barthacontemporary.com or call the gallery — we would always rather talk a return through with you than leave you unsure. This policy should be read alongside our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
