Nick Terry

Nick Terry was born in Paris, France, in 1966 and lives and works in Marfa, Texas. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts, with a major in Painting, from Sarah Lawrence College, Bronxville, New York, in 1989.

Terry works in watercolour and film. His watercolours are made using large rolls of vinyl-saturated papers and application tapes as substrates; these thin, crepe-like papers cause paint to pool into rivulets and crevices. Terry then edits down from each large-scale sheet, isolating areas of interest and allowing the final scale and shape of each work to be determined by this process rather than by predetermined proportion. In 2023 his film *Neuro Osmosis* was screened at venues including the CineMarfa Film Festival, the Galveston Artist Residency, Sutra House in Basel, and the American Association of Neuropathology Conference in Monterey, California.

Terry has exhibited widely across the United States and internationally, with solo exhibitions at venues including George Billis Gallery, New York; Charlotte Jackson Gallery, Santa Fe; BWA Gallery, Tarnow, Poland; and 300 Kelly Gallery, Marfa. He has shown with Bartha Contemporary, London, in 2021 and 2023, and held an artist residency at Residencia Oficial de Arte, Mexico City, in 2013.
