Nick Terry - Neuro Osmosis
Neuro Osmosis
Neuro Osmosis is a film by the painter Nick Terry and the filmmaker David Fenster, who worked on it together over two years. It follows how Terry's painting developed and sets his pictures beside the electron microscope images his father made during his career as a neuropathologist. The film shows close similarities between the two sets of images and leaves open whether images Terry took in at one stage of his life later shaped his own work. It was screened during Terry's exhibition at the von Bartha Collection, Schertlingasse 16, Basel, on 19 and 20 April 2023, and on this website. Terry was born in Paris in 1966 and lives and works in Marfa, Texas. He paints in black and white on rolls of vinyl-saturated paper and application tape, where the water-based paint, which he mixes himself, gathers into pools, creeks and crevices.
