Similar sculptures by Alan Johnston were exhibited at the Lisson Gallery in 1995 and Inverleith House in Edinburgh in 1994. The work is part of a small series of sculptures that emulate wall elements, often employed by the artist as temporary structures in Museum Shows, such as his 2000 at Tate Britain, entitled 'Intelligence, NewBritishArt 2000'.
