The work forms part of a series of paintings conceived for an exhibition at the Mies van der Rohe Haus in Berlin. Entitled "tactile drawings" the works in this exhibition are based on the dimensions of the bricks used by Mies van der Rohe during the construction of Landhaus Lempke, which was later turned into the Mies van der Rohe Haus Museum.
